Senior Project Scheduler (Primavera P6)
Location: Houston, TX
Schedule: Full-Time, 40 Hours per Week
Pay Rate: $61.00 - $67.00 per Hour
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Scheduler to support large-scale capital projects within the energy and industrial sectors. This role is responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing integrated project schedules throughout the entire project lifecycle, from planning and engineering through construction and project closeout.
The ideal candidate will possess advanced expertise in Primavera P6, project controls, critical path scheduling, earned value management, and schedule risk analysis. This individual will work closely with project managers, engineering teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure successful project execution and timely delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
  • Monitor project progress through stakeholder meetings, contractor updates, and field verification activities.
  • Identify schedule risks, critical path impacts, and potential project execution conflicts.
  • Perform schedule analysis and recommend strategies to improve project performance and execution efficiency.
  • Support project change management activities, including schedule impact assessments, change notices, and change orders.
  • Facilitate schedule review meetings and provide project controls reporting.
  • Apply Earned Value Management (EVM) principles to monitor project performance and forecast outcomes.
  • Assist project teams with constructability reviews, planning strategies, and resource forecasting.
  • Develop project performance metrics, productivity tracking tools, and schedule recovery plans.
  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, construction, and project management teams to maintain schedule alignment.
  • Prepare executive-level reports, dashboards, and project status presentations.
  • Mentor junior schedulers and promote scheduling best practices.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Project Management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 8 years of project scheduling and project controls experience.
  • Advanced proficiency with Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
  • Experience supporting large-scale capital projects within energy, petrochemical, LNG, pipeline, industrial manufacturing, or heavy construction environments.
  • Proven experience developing and managing integrated project schedules throughout all project phases.
  • Strong understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM), Critical Path Method (CPM), schedule forecasting, productivity tracking, progress measurement, and project controls reporting.
  • Experience with schedule risk analysis, change management, and change order tracking.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project teams and stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting capital projects valued between $500M and $1B+.
  • Background in midstream oil and gas, downstream refining, petrochemical facilities, LNG facilities, or major infrastructure programs.
  • Experience with project productivity analysis and performance reporting.
  • Previous leadership, mentoring, or team development experience within project controls or scheduling organizations.
  • Professional certifications such as PMI-SP, PSP (AACE), or PMP.
  • Experience working within large EPC, engineering, construction, or owner-operator organizations.
  • Advanced understanding of integrated cost and schedule performance management.
Ideal Candidate:
The successful candidate will be a seasoned scheduler with extensive experience building and managing complex project schedules for large capital engineering and construction programs. They will bring deep Primavera P6 expertise, strong project controls knowledge, and a proven track record supporting high-value industrial, energy, pipeline, petrochemical, or LNG projects from planning through execution. Experience working directly with EPC firms, contractors, and project leadership teams is highly desired.
